This will give you plenty of material for a good post, especially if you go on the last day. You'll probably not want to repeat the experience though due to the crowds, the noise and lunkheads crawling everywhere. My Mom and stepdad leave town during that week and take to the Dordogne or someplace deep in the countryside to avoid dealing with the St. Louis. The closest thing I can think of in the US would be welcoming the new year at Times Square in NY. An experience that's to be lived once, only once.elvatolokohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04038685072832962651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6564134964285988310.post-74011144946405364802012-04-02T09:29:42.400+02:002012-04-02T09:29:42.400+02:00Ahhh les tielles d'Alain Cianni...this is mayb...Ahhh les tielles d'Alain Cianni...this is maybe the only thing I miss from France. Nice post on the city I grew up in. I was born in Montpellier but grew up in Sete.
I have been living in the U.S. in the Washington DC area for the past 17 years.
There is more indeed to Sete. May I suggest the following for your next visit:
Take a stroll through the Pointe Courte neighborhood, see a play at the Theatre on the Victor Hugo Ave. ( My mom occasionally performs there) go to the top of Mont St. Clair and visit the Notre Dame de la Salette chapel, go to the Pont Levis neighborhood on the banks of the Etang the Thau, take a stroll in the Quartier Haut neigborhood, visit the Cimetiere Marin, go on a Wednesday morning early and enjoy the market that takes over most of the downtown area, go to les Halles and enjoy the many seafood and fresh vegetables vendors there. Take a stroll to the end of the Mole mid-afternoond and see the fishing fleet returning to port.
Avoid the restaurants of La Marine, except for La Palangrotte.elvatolokohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04038685072832962651noreply@blogger.com
